Ever heard the old skeptic adage, “Taking supplements results in nothing more than expensive urine”? Oh if only that were true, then us fools who take them on a regular  basis could sell or even donate our nutrient dense  urine to save lives. Sounds silly doesn’t it? Call me a fool for taking cod liver oil during the winter months but if the sun ain’t shining how else do I obtain my vitamin D? What if I am sick and my body is expending important nutrients quicker than I can replenish through my diet? Or what I have a genetic variation that inhibits my ability to metabolize certain nutrients into their bioactive form? Is it not fair to say that perhaps supplementation can be useful somewhere in our lives?
